The three suspects involved in the high speed chase that started in Gretna and ended Uptown yesterday had some none-too-exemplary rap sheets at the DA’s office.* Looks like Ed has dropped the ball again.
– Jarrett Dixon, 25
Dixon was convicted of armed robbery three times and one attempted possession of cocaine (“thought he had caine but it was Gold Medal flour”). He was also due in court on Feb. 6 for possession of haer-ron. While logic suggests he will be able to make that appearance due to him still being in jail, one never knows.
– Shawn Lee, 23
The Times-Picayune called Lee’s arrest record “staggering,” with the latest being six weeks ago for dealing crack and haer-ron. Not sure, but I think in any other city a fella’ with a “staggering” arrest record who was arrested a couple days before Halloween wouldn’t have had the opportunity to be involved in a high speed chase two weeks before Christmas. Dang Ed.
– Barbaro Hall, 19
Hall currently has an astounding three open narcotics cases in Orleans Parish, including one for weed and another for slinging crack. He has never been convicted for any of his arrests and has never even been formally charged by Ed in any of them. In yesterday’s incident, he was shot several times by the NOPD after “brandishing” a gun at the cops. I’m not sure what brandishing means but my guess would be he had it in his hand but didn’t point it at anyone. I can’t make a judgment either way whether the police were right or wrong to shoot him. I wasn’t there. I do know that if Ed had worked a little harder on Hall’s three drug cases, perhaps the suspect wouldn’t have been shot at all.
