I hate to just post one link without even a bit of commentary but, please, everyone, go read this. Read it.

While the person could be real, and their story honestly told, this one disembodied story posted as a comment without a shred of evidence. It’s interesting that by their own admission they were “told” by someone that it was Stacey Head.
Given that we should all just assume it is true.
After all, given the chorus of gasps and tongue clucking and general glee this is likely to produce, with the weeks of entries and links to the latest on the “local blogosphere’s new Leona Helmsley” (as BayouStJohn David put it), it must be.
Should it turn out to be false we can just assume that it should be true.
If it were anonymous I wouldn’t have linked but they did indeed use a full name and posted an e-mail and wrote a letter to the paper which requires a full name, which gives it much more legitimacy.
They were told that it was head but they also double checked against a photo.
I know what you are saying about the allegation but there is a lot to suggest it is indeed true.
But in the end it’s the same as Hedge-Morrell’s “Do you know who I am?” speeding fiasco.
I didn’t say it was anonymous. I didn’t say it necessarily wasn’t true in some sense. The Hedge-Morrell speeding was broken by the Times-Pic and quoted the officer involved, which has a bit more credibility.
Of course, because it is Head, that bit about two sides to a story clearly doesn’t apply.
Not saying you did say that, I’m just clarifying why I put stock in the story as opposed to something that might have been a rumor or something such as that.
As for the two sides, I am anxiously waiting for her response.
Actually, the story is also a commentary on bitchy local Jazzfesters (infringed as they are from going to the festival they created) as it is an indictment against the councilwoman. It’s multi-faceted! It’s got Uptown vs OuttaTown!
Ah, there’s your commentary!
The reason I’m skeptical is that like Celcus, I’ve had direct dealings with Ms. Head. I also find the detail Celcus mentioned suspect as well as the “Yankee bitch” thing.
Also, as a 20 year Uptown resident I’m a little sick of the stereotypes. It’s actually a very diverse place. My neighborhood and that of Celcus aren’t full of Yuppies.
Sick of stereotypes? I live on the West Bank! 🙂
I second Varg’s last comment.
I’m waiting for Ms Head’s reply to Haney. If she doesn’t respond to the allegation either she’s guilty or indifferent. Which is worse?
Also, we are speaking of a woman who blew kisses to public housing advocates the day she voted to tear the places down. I still support the decision, but did she really have to assume such an adolescent position in light of the circumstance?
Actually, Head blew kisses to a woman who was calling her “the devil” from across the City Council chamber. Not the best move, for sure (quite dumb, actually) but sitting down and having a respectful and civil conversation about whether she was more like Mephistopheles, Beelzebub or Belial, as many seem to have wanted, wasn’t really option.
And why should she respond? If she denies any of it, she gets called a liar on top of being a elitist. If she provides a significantly different take on the events, she will have confirmed that “something” happened, and she’ll she’ll still be called a liar and an arrogant one on top of it. It’s just got too much truthyness.
As a man of indeterminate character, I would respond if it were put into question.

Has anyone even called it to her attention?
