It was an ugly, ugly game between two teams that suck, The Carolina Panthers and The New Orleans Saints.
And unfortunately, in the age-old contest of who sucked worse, it had to be us.
Some thoughts…
– Saints made their first sack of the season and that’s a funky monkey off their back.
– Drew threw a quick pick in the first quarter and I popped an anti-anxiety pill.
– David Carr was shook up and his cart driver checked out a Saintsation’s ass as he drove off the field.
– Jamal Brown’s penalty got Stecker’s TD called back and Brown’s facial expression made him look like the angriest man on the planet. Coach gave him a hard time and looked like a savory chicken wing to the big man in the process.
– Orlando Made made a couple field goals, missed a few more and needs to be let go.
– This Lance Moore kid is A-Ok. Got a great name too – Lance.
– Devery makes biggest play of the season, whoop-whoops the defender and gets the TD only to have it called back and Mike ‘Meatball’ Karney drives in on the next play. I notice that Karney talks a lot of smack after plays. Watch him sometime.
– Reggie played with toughness today, trying to go up the middle more. Thanks for the effort kid.
– Entire drive is negated because place kicker Not John Carney kicked a 20-yard field goal into the elbow of Julius Peppers. This was following a Reggie Bush drop in the end zone.
– On the ensuing Carolina drive the Saints defense folded and Steve Smith walked into the end zone shortly thereafter.
– The Saints tried to make something happen but Devery dropped a pass into the hands of a Carolina defender. I then went out to the shed. Needed a break. Couldn’t bear to watch.
– I came back in to see the weakest attempt at a field goal ever? 54-yard attempt? Really?
– Carolina gets the ball back. The Carolina defense fails to stop them. Their 12-year veteran kicker boots a 50+ yard field goal into the uprights.
I don’t trust this team. The offense is unspectacular and seems skittish and slow. The defense is pitiful. The special teams is non-existent. They cant seem to score more than 14 points a game. They are virtually devoid of big plays. The receivers drop passes going back to last year. The defense misses tackles. the opposing quarterbacks have all the time in the world. The kicker should be fired. The quarterback is a zombie incarnation of his former self. The secondary let receivers catch balls at will. The post-season outlook is grim. I’m sure we will when some games but I’m not sure when.
