I strongly urge everyone to head over to Nola-dishu to check out Clay’s sobering photos of the SoLa wetlands. He took (and scanned in one-by-one I might add) several photos of shipping canals seemingly carved at will out of the coast. Perhaps it would have been prudent to simply come up with a plan of routes and canals that would have allowed shipping and a vibrant coast?
He even got a nice photo of the Wagon’s Wheel area down by Venice.
I wish I could have posted something more intelligent in his comments but “Holy shit” was the best I could do.
Wetlands Photos at Nola-dishu.

Here are pictures from when I was offshore around the same time last year (~11 months ago) – there are a lot of wetlands and coast pictures towards the end of the set. There is not a patch of wetland that I saw that was criss-crossed with a canal, pipeline or other manmade entity.
