Late and drunk
he arrives home
and climbs a flight of haunted stairs
to a hidden loft.
where lays
what will one day be
his most prolific lover.

Moments before
his amplified 6’ X 9’s
blasted "Ministry" to every dog in rural America
as he made his way
2.5 miles down the dirt road
leaving them barking for an encore

He crosses the loft
over to his door
where he finds a ticket to paradise
in the form of a post-it note
beckoning him to her room
under false pretense

He goes
rouses her
they talk
moments later
she is singing him her song
ending in a tumultuous crescendo
rivaling
"In the Hall of the Mountain King"

After
he kisses her
deeply and with passion
his tongue into her mouth
tasting the remnants of himself not swallowed
he does this in empathy and appreciation
he is satisfied and strangely so is she
after holding her for a short while
his hand on her hip
he says goodbye
he cannot stay

Slipping back into his room
he is asleep in seconds.

In the morning
her mother will come and wake her for school

He will sleep in till noon.
